NFL, NBA LEGENDS HELP NYC VOLUNTEERS COMBAT HUNGER CRISIS
1000 Volunteers Package Nutritious Meals for Horn of Africa Famine Victims
SATURDAY, OCTOBER 1 -- The brand-new Basketball City, Pier 36 location will turn into a food-packing factory as hundreds of New York volunteers produce thousands of meals for Horn of Africa famine victims alongside a number of sports icons.
The Health and Humanitarian Aid Foundation (HHAF), sponsored by global communications agency Draftfcb, and 1,000 volunteers will prepare nearly 200,000 life-saving meals at a Feed My Starving Children (FMSC) MobilePack event.
The enormity and cause of the event has caught significant celebrity attention. Among the volunteers present will be New York Jets Wide Receiever Plaxico Burress, New York 86 Giants legend Harry Carson, current Giants cornerback Prince Amukamara, and Sly Fox, mascot of the NBA Nets.
Thirteen million people are in need of food aid in the Horn of Africa, and 29,000 children have already died in the region. This MobilePack event is HHAF and DraftFCB’s response to the crisis.
Jane Zaretsky, HHAF’s Director of Humanitarian Aid is “thrilled to be working with the teams at DraftFCB and Feed My Starving Children. We’re looking forward to combining our efforts to yield very powerful relief aid.”
The event will feature live music, a silent auction and a wireless electronic recycling drive with HHAF’s partner, Recycling for Charities. To learn more, visit www.hhafonline.org or fmsc.org/mobilepack.
